Living Legend (Gunplay album)

''Living Legend'' is the debut studio album by American rapper Gunplay. The album was released on July 31, 2015, by Maybach Music Group and Def Jam Recordings. The album was supported by the singles "Tell 'Em", "Wuzhanindoe", "Be Like Me" and "Blood on the Dope".
==Background==
In November 2012, Gunplay stated the album would be released in 2013. In June 2014, in an interview with ''XXL'', he spoke about the sound of the album, saying: "It’s going to be something for the world, not just for the hood. I’m already a hood nigga—I got hood tracks on there—but I want take it to that next level. I got an EDM track on there, I got some tracks on there for the girls. But for the most part I just experimented with it. Usually people stick to the script on their first album. I did whatever the fuck I felt. I’m not trying to sit there and over-rap your ears. I don’t really rap-rap-rap like that. I let you know experiences what I’ve been through, where I’m going and that’s it."
He explained the meaning behind the album title, saying: "I’ve been through more than most rappers. I’ve paid more dues than most rappers. I’ve been through more than most niggas who’s out here on the street. I think the title fits me perfect. I elaborate on that a few times on the album to let y’all know why I am a ''Living Legend''. Other than that I still wanted to—not cater to the masses—but give something the masses something they could relate to. Where I’m not stepping out of character, I’m not being somebody I’m not. When you hear the album you’ll understand what I’m coming from.”〔
In August 2014, he gave an update on the album's release date, saying: "I wish they would give me one, shit. I’m just tryna work it til’ we get it. We did have a meeting at Def Jam the other day and they starting to really focus on my project. I think a release date will be announced really soon. It’ll be dropping before Ross new album so we’re gonna cross promote each other and just make it do what it do. I can’t wait, I feel like I’ll be accomplished. Even though I been in the game starting from a hype man in November 05′, then nine years later, ten years later I get to drop an album. It’s gonna mean a lot to me and this title Living Legend, cause’ I been through 100 percent more than what these rap niggas been through, what the average nigga on the street been through and I’m still here. And I think it calls for a celebration and a title like ''Living Legend'' will embody that whole situation."
